Simon Says Stamp Blog - Christmas Card Challenge

I have officially made one set of 5 cards so far.  The fewest ever compared to the last couple of years. Mostly due to being sick essentially since the start of October.  Since I'm sick yet again, I'll keep this brief.

I bought these Neat and Tangled stamps last year, but hadn't had a chance to use them.  Neat and Tangled's illustrations are my absolute favourite!

Supplies:  Neat & Tangled stamps, Simon Says Stamp Stencil, Honey Bee dies, Nuvo Drops, Copics.

MFT Card Challenge: The Birthday Project Have A Wild Birthday Part 2!

Okay, so there were multiple birthdays this November, so I can't leave this card behind.  I had used these awesome marine stamps before, but again, I wanted to 'shake it up' with the Happy Birthday die for a special little someone.

Supplies:  MFT Die-Namics Big Birthday, MFT Stamps Beach Buds, Honey Bee Stamps Under The Sea, Copic Markers, Distress Oxides, assorted sequins.

MFT Card Challenges: The Birthday Project Have a Wild Birthday

Whew, it has been a long while since I have made time to enter a card challenge.  Sometimes it's a little too easy just to share on Instagram and be satisfied with that.  With that said, November was a month of birthdays so entering My Favorite Things challenge seemed most suitable to get back on my little blog.

Happy Birthday!  I've had this MFT die for a while and I knew I wanted to make a shaker card with it.   My challenge was attempting to incorporate other images with such a large die. Hence the profile of a birthday cake emerged with this card.  Enjoy!

Simon Says: Happy Birthday!

Happy 9th Birthday Simon Says Stamp!  I love your products and can't wait for more!

I wanted to participate in the Wednesday Challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Blog, primarily because it's birthday season in the family, but also to celebrate one of my favourite online crafting stores.  Nothing like a little motivation to complete some projects, right?

I had mermaids on the brain again, so I decided to use those rather than using products I wasn't quite feeling.  I also wanted to attempt a shaker card, and as a result I have a few learnings from the process.

Overall, my card turned out not quite what I envisioned, but not bad!  This mermaid was throwing me for a loop due to it's dimensions, but again, not bad for my first attempt.  A key learning about using sequins:  2 layers of foam tape is best.  I used one layer and the sequins have trouble moving plus they can make marks on the top layer if you squish your card in your fingers (noted for next time!).

Products used in this card:  Honey Bee Stamps, Simon Says Stamp card stock and white embossing powder, MFT Stamps stitched circle die, a mix of Pretty Pink Posh and Neat & Tangled sequins, copic markers.  Sentiment by WPlus9 (I think...).

Simon Says Stamp - Simon Monday Challenge

This week's challenge is Easter/Spring inspiration and since I don't really do Easter as an adult (hey, chocolate is a year-round thing), I put in some practice colouring flowering images with my copic sketch markers.

I stamped the Concord & 9th So Lovely flower image on Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock with Antique Linen Distress ink.  The outline doesn't disappear like when one watercolours, but it worked for me.  I used the copics I had on hand.  I only had 2 yellow copics, so I challenged myself to use my browns to build depth in the yellow flower.  I love how it turned out!  The smaller images are tricky if one's hand is heavy, but I made it work.

My stash has limited sentiment stamps, so I kept it simple with a sentiment from Altenew offset by some sparkly Nuvo drops.  And that's it!

MFT Card Challenges: MFT Color Challenge 89

It was time to pull out the Dino stamps by MFT Stamps (yay!).  I love these stamps for making dimensional scenes.  The T-Rex is my absolute favourite.

This is my first time testing out my copics on these images.  Colouring larger images (like the T-Rex) was a bit of a challenge to blend, but after a couple of test images, it turned out pretty well I think!

Love the punny sentiments that come with these stamp sets!

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

I love my Waffle Flower stamps but sometimes I don't know how to stretch the use of some of them.  These enveloper stamps are some of my absolute favourites!

I tried some no line copic marker colouring this time around, fussy cut out the image, and popped the image up for a little bit of dimension.  I added some distress ink clouds in the background for a bit of texture (and a butterfly from another Waffle Flower stamp set), and voila!

Simon Says Stamp - Send a Card to a Friend Day

Sending cards to friends is something I try to do when I'm not under the gun to get a birthday card in the mail.  Can anyone relate to this??!  I try to keep the cards flowing out the door shortly after they are completed.  It's a tight schedule, but it's a fairly successful tactic.

My card today is using a floral stamp from Concord and 9th.  I decided to emboss in white on some Canson XL watercolour paper and paint it up with my distress mini inks.  Simple as that!

(Sentiment is Altenew.  Keeping it simple!)

Simon Wednesday Challenge - Layer It Up

Woo hoo! I'm back!  Most of my stuff ends up on Instagram because it's just a click of the button, so 😉.  I'm going to enter this card in Simon Says Stamp - Layer It Up Wednesday Challenge.

Simon Wednesday Challenge - Layer It Up (link)

It's a minute amount of layering, but the card is minimalist as it is.  This card is inspired by Kathy Racoosin's previous work.  With the 30 day colouring challenge happening, my inspiration is pretty rough around the edges.  Thankfully there are many talented crafters providing that nudge with their beautiful talents.
